What is the (queer) literary retreat?
The (queer) literary retreat was borne from my desire to spend time away with my books and journals in a restful environment. However, after my research, I found that most of the retreats were simply out of my price range. I began to feel frustrated at the lack of inaccessibility of these retreats, often seeing the cohort photos highlighting just one type of person. I wanted to create a space where not only affordability was at the nexus of our goal but also a place where people would feel welcomed. Everyone in attendance in queer and so you don’t have to wonder if you’ll fit in. You belong here.
It was with these two thoughts on mind: inclusivity and affordability, that the (queer) literary retreat was created. This will be my eighth year of hosting sold-out retreats in the Catskills, and my first year doing multiple.
These retreats are meant for you to find community through our mutual love of queer literature.
I have loved every second of hosting these. I’ve met my wife on one of these retreats, my best friend on one, and I’ve met so many amazing people because of this community I’ve created. I am so excited to meet all of you and chat about gay books together.
xoxo,
taylor

Meet Taylor
Hi, I’m Taylor, the owner and creator of the (queer) literary retreat. I’ve been hosting these retreats for eight years now and it’s grown from a passion project into a full-time endeavor.
I have always been obsessed with books, and I briefly owned a queer bookstore located in Rochester, NY until I realized that hosting events at my shop was my favorite part besides chatting about gay romance. I love a curated event and being able to create the ~vibes~.
When I’m not hosting retreats, I’m spending time at home with my wife and our cat as I slowly work through our never-ending TBR.
